Topic: “Secrets”

You want to respect a confidence, but what if the secret is dangerous or frightening? What should you do? Who should you tell, and when is it okay not to keep a secret?

Presentation

Entry must be typed or printed on 8 ½ X 11 white, unlined paper, no more than 750 words, with numbered pages. It must be double spaced, correctly spelled and punctuated. Pages must be stapled to separate cover page that includes:

  • YOUR NAME
  • YOUR ADDRESS
  • YOUR PHONE #
  • YOUR GRADE
  • YOUR SCHOOL OR SUPPORTING ORGANIZATION
  • SCHOOL OR ORGANIZATION ADDRESS
  • SCHOOL OR ORGANIZATION PHONE
  • YOUR TEACHER’S OR SUPPORTER’S NAME
  • A Release form signed by parent or guardian and student must be included

To prevent any possible bias, this information will not be available to the judges until winners have been chosen. Family members of the American Psychiatric Association, APA Alliance, American Medical Association, American Medical Association Alliance, co-sponsoring organizations are not eligible for this project.

Award

National winners will receive a $500 EE savings bond and recognition at their state chapter of the American Psychiatric Association. Second place winners will receive $300 EE savings bond. Third place winners will receive a $100 EE savings bond.
